Emily graduated Summa Cum Laude from Western New Mexico University with a Master’s Degree in Social Work and has experience counseling individuals, couples, children, and families. Before becoming a therapist, she spent 8 years as a Life and Divorce Coach, helping individuals navigate divorce and rebuild their lives and family systems. She has extensive training in Relational Life Therapy (RLT), CBT, DBT, existential psychotherapy, EMDR, IFS, and religious trauma, including specialized training through the Religious Trauma Institute and Dr. Laura Anderson. Emily provides counseling for couples, divorce and separation, anxiety, faith transition, religious trauma, and parenting challenges, offering a practical, down-to-earth, and nonjudgmental space for clients to process, heal, and grow. Outside of work, Emily lives in Gilbert, AZ with her husband, Yasser, and their five children and enjoys hiking, playing piano, working out, watching her kids perform, and continually learning and challenging herself. Raising her own children has also sparked a deep interest in understanding ADHD, emotional dysregulation, and anxiety in children, leading her to extensive research and the development of specialized programs within Family Matters to support children and their families. She considers it an honor to walk alongside her clients and witness the courage it takes to make meaningful change.
Karen Tabloff, LCSW is an Arizona-licensed clinical social worker with 30 years of experience helping individuals, couples, and families navigate grief, anxiety, depression, and major life transitions. Much of Karen’s career has been spent in hospice and bereavement care, giving her extraordinary depth in understanding pain, loss, and the complicated emotions that come with life’s hardest seasons. You will be hard-pressed to find a clinician with more experience walking alongside people through profound grief and uncertainty. Karen brings that same grounded steadiness, compassion, and wisdom into the therapy room, helping clients feel less alone as they work through what hurts.
One of Karen’s greatest strengths is how relatable she is. Clients often share that they feel genuinely seen and understood with her—like they don’t have to perform, over-explain, or “have it all together” to be welcome in the room. Karen creates a calm, safe, judgment-free space where people can show up exactly as they are and begin to untangle what’s hurting. She also has a wonderful sense of humor and uses it thoughtfully in therapy. When the moment is right, gentle humor can ease tension, create connection, and give someone room to breathe without minimizing what they are experiencing.
Karen works with children and adults and draws from approaches including brief therapy, cognitive-based strategies, and expressive and creative modalities. She tailors her approach to each person’s needs and goals, offering practical tools while honoring their individual story. Whether you are processing loss, managing anxiety or depression, navigating a major life transition, or working toward healthier relationships, Karen will meet you where you are and walk alongside you with compassion, experience, and genuine understanding.
